Ford Ranger Drive Tour

Ford has announced that it will be giving the general public the opportunity to drive their brand new midsize, prior to its arrival at dealers. All you have to do is sign up on RangerDrive, and you could be one of the first people in the U.S to get seat time in the new model. Participating in the event also includes a chance to win a brand new Ranger. The tour begins on November 9th in Washington and North Carolina. There are a total of 15 events planned throughout the rest of the year. Here's the website for registration and a full list of dates and locations. https://www.rangerdrive.com/

I hope that there will be footage/videos from these events for those of us who aren't nearby. Going to register anyways just for the chance to win a free truck. Just a note that you have to be a resident of the U.s to partake in the sweepstakes. Looks like the value of the truck maxes out at $40k, so it's not going to have all the bells and whistles.

Great time to take advantage of these programs since the Ranger is a new product (once again) and we should see something similar play out for accessories and modifications from aftermarket companies.

Thanks for the heads up. Will be registering for the contest as well. Doesn't look like there will be any events near me but I look forward to hearing peoples first impressions of the truck.

Look out for offers and events that local high volume dealers might put on.

The auto industry is getting competitive by the day. Dealers have an important role to play in attracting people to the brand and of course to buy from that very same dealer.

Lets just hope that availability/production isn't an issue, because that's going to inflate dealer pricing. A good portion of the interest that I'm seeing online is with the base XL.

I think for the most part that people are looking for a cheaper mid size option, which could have been even less if Ford had opted for a manual and regular cab. Down the road hopefully we see the two door return, even if it does have unusable back seats.

There are probably a good number of people who plan on using the Ranger as their work vehicle, and if that's the case then they wont really have any need for back seats anyways. Ford obviously decided to only offer a 4 door from launch in an effort to save on early production runs.

If the rumors are true that FCA plans on re introducing another midsize (possibly Dakota), that Ford could always make some adjustments then. A lot will be riding on successful sales.

I have a feeling that even with a potential rival coming to market we'll still see brand loyalty and perceptions of certain brands still play into buying decisions.
Plus lets not forget, Ford has been more active in this segment globally, FCA has been catching zzZZzzzZZzz's
