Ford considering extended accessories range

Ford Australia is currently considering expanding its range of OEM accessories, in an effort to better compete with extensive aftermarket options. They believe that owners may be interest in factory offered lift kits and bespoke wheel options. It is estimated that 20% of Rangers, particularly in the high end trim levels end up with some form of modification after purchase. https://www.goauto.com.au/news/ford/...-11/75952.html

More and more automakers seem to be getting on board with bespoke kits from factory. The consumer demand is definitely there, and I think having these options covered by warranty will go a long way.

"Partnering up" with existing aftermarket companies would be a great option which RCA loosely does by not voiding warranty. Then of course Ford has a history with Roush.

This is a smart play, as I feel like there is going to be a lot of interest in genuine OEM branded mods. I expect that 20% to be significantly higher in the U.S, as it was only foreign markets who've initially had access tot he T6.

I've seen plenty of Australian Rangers done up in Raptor guise, and I have to admit that some of them look pretty good. Not really sure what the point is of looking the part if you cant deliver the performance however.

Being someone that would actually use those products as intended even if was only on weekends, you have to admit without the majority being hardparkers and posers, we wouldn't have these parts. Social media, shows like SEMA and blogs like Speedhunter keep that end of the industry well oiled

I personally think these clone mods look pretty good. With the Wildtrak being the most popular mode in AUS, you've already got a decent powerplant lurking under the hood. A couple aftermarket mods and an ECU tune and you're well on your way.

What excites me the most right now is the fact that SEMA is right around the corner and some aftermarket brands or Ford themselves can launch some one-off models to get the ball rolling.

I don't blame consumers for trying to find a cheaper way of getting a Ranger Raptor. With the pricing we're seeing in foreign markets, it would be a really tough sell for me. At least the Australian outback has the terrain to actually put it through its paces.

Ford might regret it if Toyota uses this as an opportunity to push harder with the Tacoma TRD. Toyota has a lot of money to throw around at will.
