It does seem like a lot of automakers are making serious cut backs on the number of working platforms. Even a lot of the powertrains are now being shared across models, which is fine for anyone who's a fan of the Ecoboost. There are many however who are not.

Forgot which car maker it was but now they're not just going unibody but finding more ways to conduct that process in a more connected way. Not easy to cut curb weight to ultimately help meet challenging MPG requirements along with reducing over head. No wonder Elon is going through ****
