Ford Ranger Review/First Drive- AutoGuide

AutoGuide has posted up their first impressions of the Ranger and have come away impressed with what Ford has packaged together. They think it has the potential to quickly become the best selling midsize truck in America, with a very capable and refined powertrain, and an approachable price in base guise.

These delivery charges are getting outrageous. $1095 just for that seems very excessive. I'm hoping this varies by region.

Haven't been impressed with the bed configuration stuck in the 2010's, so much for trying to be competitive.

While it doesn't do a lot to distinguish itself from other mid size models, it does offer many class leading specs. There may be a good number of F150 owners looking for something more nimble and cheaper to run.

I think there are also a lot of buyers that have become disinterested in the full size segment, based on pricing alone. It's been quite a lot time since we've seen what I would call an affordable pickup from Ford.

Well for many years it has been the only option aside from a body on frame SUV which at this rate is getting rare, soon non-existent.

With the popularity of subcompacts and crossovers, this transition for pickups was only a matter of time. Now that smaller displacement engines are capable of matching or outperforming V6 and V8's, there wont be such a compromise with utility.

Stronger chassis and frame systems are to thank for the capability as well.
From partially boxed to fully boxed, these range of lighter duty pickups exceed expectations and bring their own specialties to the table

And lets not discount the value of a brand new pickup that starts for less than $25k. Have a good feeling there will be lots of interest in the base trim with steelies.
