Dana 60 Ranger

There are plenty of different Rangers that have made their debut at SEMA, but the off roading standout is this custom Dana 60. As the name suggest its built upon Ultimate Dana 60 front axels with locks and a 5.38 ratio. Other mods include ARB bumpers, BF Goodrich Krawler tires and a substantial suspension lift. What do you guys think?

Seeing this put through its paces where it would feel at home, which is on desert like terrain as we see in Baja racing, would be interesting, especially as its endurance gets tested.

Off road enthusiasts are going to love this. It's a great example of just how capable this platform will be, with the right tweaks and mods. Throw in an ECU tune for a bit more power and I think you'd be surprised at what this concept can do.

We've already seen a lot of the concepts from SEMA go the Baja route with the Ranger, though I'm not sure how many of these designs we're achieved with OEM parts. At least with know from all these unique concepts that 3rd party companies have taken an interest with the platform as well.

Customization is a huge factor for purchase in todays market, and Ford has recognized this. By starting with such a vast parts/accessories catalogue, owners will have a greater opportunity to make their Ranger their own, directly from factory.

lucky for Ford other car makers like Toyota proved it with the Toyota 86 and to a lesser extent, their own vehicles such as the Fiesta ST, Focus RS and F-150 Raptor.

Its been a long time coming for Ford to step up their performance division, and its odd that they've waited until the majority of their cars are being killed off. A lot of wasted potential on platforms like the RS.

If you look at the revenue that Mopar is generating, the majority of the sales come from light trucks. Since SUV's and pickups account for like 70% of the industry today, this is where Ford should focus their investment.

problem with FCA in the past is they didn't inject enough truck DNA into SUV's, the Cherokee for example has become more car-like and thus turned away its loyal following.

The changes they made to the headlight designs on the last few MY's of the Cherokee were a huge mistake imo. But when it comes to a high performance SUV, it would be tough to find something as capable as what FCA delivers with the Trackhawk.
