You're probably right that the Ranger will never see off road terrain like a Wrangler would, but since Ford is offering an "off- road" trim, they might as well implement the new technology that's being utilized in the Raptor. Pickups at their core are utility vehicles, so they need to have plenty of capability, even if its something the average driver would never use.
