Sales of VW products have been stronger in Europe, historically and recently that has been noted to increase by double digits, which is a lot.
Its more competitive markets like the U.S. that they struggle.

Those numbers are bound to change with diesel on its way out, which represented a huge portion of their sales in EU. The Jetta has long been a top seller here, but I don't think VW has done enough to keep it relevant amongst the redesigns we've seen from Honda and Toyota.

not entirely because one big benefit that strong diesel selling brands have right now is brand familiarity, consumers aren't nearly as like to try other brands when they're comfortable with one already.
