Ranger Raptor Spied!!

This could be the fabled Ranger Raptor I've heard about, though I can't be sure under all that camouflage. At least Motor Trend claims it's the Raptor.

This is definitely going to be a hit with off-road pickup enthusiasts and it'll be interesting to see how something like a Ranger Raptor will fair in the Mint 400 race. From what I recall, the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor was the only stock truck to finish two years ago.

Hard to see why Ford would bring this out in the public eye and dress it up so much without holding some serious weight as a special model.
I guess if Ford had a model that was right below the Raptor but similar to the Raptor in some ways then it could have been that

I mean seeing as how they already full unveiled the Ranger, there is no way its just a high level trim under all that camo. It seems to have the infamous Ford grille that's found on current Raptors, so I think its safe to say that's what it is. Hopefully we get a full look at the redesigned Raptor variant soon!

Ford wanted to keep it hidden, but the bumper camouflage was blown askew while in transport, thus the large FORD badge on the front grille giving it away as a possible Raptor variant. Think we can order Raptor parts for the regular Rangers?

It would certainly be cool if Ranger owners could swap out their OEM grill for the FORD Raptor insert. I have a feeling that will be unlikely however as Ford will try and keep the models distinguished. Even those this generation of Ranger has seen a pretty drastic redesign, I'm hoping its older platform will allow aftermarket mods to come to market sooner.

I've already seen some Australian Ranger owners who swapped their stock grill for the Raptor variant on their Wildtrak's. Some of them even opted to outline the lettering in various colors and I have to admit that it's makes quite a difference in the front end. I've also seen there are whole Raptor body kits available for the Ranger as well. Not sure how much they cost, and if its worth it to merely make the Ranger look like a Raptor.

Seems like the new Ranger Raptor has been completely revealed at an event in Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday. The one they saw had a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-4 diesel engine, which is good for 210 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. I can't seem to link the images here, so you'll have to head over to Motor Authority for them.

Honestly expected more from something with a Raptor badge considering how powerful the F-150 Raptor is. That thing has 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque, which is substantially more than the Ranger. I do understand that Ford doesn't want the models to overlap and poach each other's customers, but the numbers just seems so underwhelming in comparison.

Yeah I don't know why Ford is choosing to release new models with only one engine/tranny option. The new Raptor imo delivers on the looks, but not quite the performance expected out of the trim. While there is certainly a good chance they will expand upon its current offering down the line, I think they've lost out of a good amount of pre-orders/early buyers with its insignificant powertrain.
