Ford for Food Game Contest
Ford Malaysia has just recently created an online game featuring the new Wildtrak, which allows participants to compete for weekly top scores to earn prizes. The game not only speaks to foodies and avid gamers but always allows Ford to showcase the various features and capable of the brand new Ranger. It can be played here for anyone who's interested.

Great way to target younger demographics which are a growing segment of vehicle buyers as older generations phase out of the market.
If it succeeds in Malaysia then odds are we will see it in bigger and more competitive markets like the US. |
I think we're going to see an increase in these kinds of marketing strategies by automakers. Doesn't take much to peak the interest on consumers, when you mention interactive games and free prizes. I think they should have considered offering some Ranger related awards instead of storage drives though. Buy the key design is kinda cool.

I'm horrible at these games, but it does help to garner interest from a more tech savvy generation who values good food. That's why so many mom and pop cafes/restaurants are opening up these days.
|
I agree that they could have created a better prize pool, but I suppose they didn't know how much interest there would be in the game. Maybe if it sees success in Malaysia, Ford will consider offering something similar in other regions. Ford merchandise would be a better incentive imo.

Ford can come up with good strategies when they want to. How they launched the Ford GT was a prime example.
Here it would be great if they gave away a 1 year lease on the new Ranger because well.... who doesn't want that? |
That's too high of a cost imo, especially as a weekly prize. At most you'll probably get some small paraphernalia like a shirt or a mug.
|
They can always include it as some higher tier prize which in most tier systems always make a big impact. When its the same thing over and over, there's little fun. I guess someone over at Ford noticed foodie culture taking off.
|
Or they could offer a gas card/discount for a set amount of time. With these rising prices we're seeing across the country, its not exactly supportive of a new pickup purchase.
|
At least we are slowly starting to see hybrid systems put in place by automakers. Not only will that provide better torque off the line, but we'll also see better fuel economy in the city.
