Toyota previews new Hilux GR Sport

Toyota has been quickly expanding upon their performance trims across the lineup and they just showcased a new Gazoo Racing Hilux. It is the first GR model that has been developed and produced in Brazil, and only 420 units will be made available. Seems to be more of a styling package than anything, so I don't think it would fair too well against the likes of the Ranger Raptor. https://i.imgur.com/3FaLX4m.jpg

Still not happy there's nothing for global markets. So far the land cruiser could be it but Canadians will be left out unless there's something for LX owners.

I do hope in the coming years we see more automakers move to global platforms. They could consider larger production runs for these kinds of variants if they offered it in more markets.

TRD is one Toyota brand we can place our bets on. For other markets Toyota competes in have seen TRD editions.

Not a big fan of the over styling that Toyota has done on the latest round of TRD models. And the pricing is getting dangerously close to that of Raptor territory.

They've got the best selling pickup in the U.S so they can really do what they want in terms of the pricing for newer high performance trims. At least you know you are getting a solid, reliable product for the money.

I have been under estimating Tacoma sales, apparently the Tacoma is such a great product that its eating into Tundra sales. However, has anyone noticed how the Tacoma/Colorado/Canyon/Ranger offered today are just as capable as the F-150/Silverado/RAM 1500 from 10-15 years back? Crazy how the tides are shifting.

What even more surprising is that a lot of newer full-size models are beginning to play with 4 cylinders. Shows how far the technology has come that we are seeing better output numbers from lower displacement engines.

Its a sad reality for anyone that loves displacement but when it means an immediate 20% drop in fuel consumption, it can't be ignored.
